Every UK crocheter has at some point come across a crochet pattern online and thought, “what on Earth is a single crochet (sc)?”. Frantically checking your crochet stitch book, you start to wonder if you’ve gone a bit mad. Well, you haven’t. The single crochet is a US term, and it’s not the only crochet term that differs from the ones used here in the UK and Australia.
