The best Ponyo makes: free patterns

Who doesn’t love a bit of Ponyo? The 2008 animated classic about a little goldfish who wants to become human has inspired the craft world to create a plethora of Ponyo patterns and tutorials.

I’ve gathered together three of the best free Ponyo patterns so you can take your very own Japanese princess wherever you go.

Ponyo patterns: Hama or Perler bead pattern (from cross-stitch) by Tatie Grenouille

ponyo patterns - pearler bead cross-stitch

Immortalise your spellbinding little sea princess in Hama or Perler beads then use her to protect your side table from hot drinks. You can also pop the finished project into a frame and give as a gift to another Ponyo fan.

This free cross-stitch pattern can be adapted to suit either of these beads (as every good beader knows, cross-stitch patterns are your best friends). Or, you can use it as nature intended and stitch up a striking Ponyo sampler.

If you’ve made any of the featured projects, I’d love to hear how it went. Leave me a comment below 🙂
